The MDDC has played a key role in several of BC’s technology successes. Below are some of the companies that came out of the MDDC and have had a significant impact on BC’s technology sector, creating hundreds of jobs and significantly contributing to BC’s export economy.
Over the past 15 years, the MDDC has facilitated the education and training of many engineering and technology students, medical residents, interns and specialists.
The MDDC assisted in designing two successful biomedical engineering programs at BC universities. It also facilitated collaboration for biomedical engineering programs between BCIT, UBC and SFU.
The MDDC provides a unique opportunity for those in the private sector to interact closely with the public health care sector for mutual benefit. The MDDC provides a rich and innovative environment for those interested in any or all aspects of medical device development and evaluation.
While the MDDC does not offer formal entrepreneurship training programs, or actively invests in companies, it connects together medical technology entrepreneurs, investors. mentors and academic researchers.
